Good morning Saturday, though it feels like Sunday!

Morning all.

I'm surprised I can move today as we did so much walking yesterday. Have our friends staying till tomorrow. But with them coming Thursday, my mind is all angled and out of sync.

We did a long walk called the Hall Walk yesterday, finishing up at a dog friendly cafe for coffee and cake. We then read the papers on the deck and had a chug up river on the boat. Went out to dinner at the pub (Tommy came too). Our friend has a fitbit (?) to count steps etc and turned out we did about 17,000. Sadly I don't have bathroom scales here to see if it made any difference. Though maybe that is a good thing and I can just remain optimistic.

Not sure what we are doing today though no doubt OH and friend will want to go sailing, wind permitting, this afternoon.

Good morning Saturday, from the seaside.

Been up since silly o'clock, don't know why-strange bed, perhaps. We heard that the apartment below us has been let out long-term and there were dark mutterings among the snobbish element about them being "on benefits" All I can say is, they must pay damn good benefits here as they arrived at the same time as us, back from the shops-in a Porsche!

Anyway, we all said hello and he said they had a 10 month old baby so we might hear here sometimes but so far, not a squeak. Think I'll pop down today and say hello properly and meet the little girl. If we are going to cross paths regularly it's better to be friendly at the outset, I think.

Hoping to do some beach walking today. It's still dark, which I find surprising because at home it would be light by now. Masses of birds singing though because we are right next to the Coastal Path with woods all aroind so lots of wildlife.

You can tell I am home, waking up much earlier.

Gorgeous day yesterday but seems we are paying for the fact as it is grey this morning. Having my nails done and then want to pop into town. One of my oldest friends' daughter has just had a little girl and it is the perfect excuse to buy pink! With 2 sons and 2 grandsons haven't had the opportunity before.

Talking of the family, ES and co in Oz are on a camping holiday this weekend. Know I shouldn't laugh but their second day was a complete disaster, not helped by it raining. Apparently ES freaked when he got a leach on his foot, the kids freaked at leeches on the beech, DIL had a load of fish guts tipped over her feet, GS1 trod on a bee and it didn't like it, and finally GS2 fell off a swing and broke his wrist, which is now in a plaster cast. You really couldn't make that up! Just seen the pictures of their 3 rd day and things are much better.

We desperately need new sofas and OH did suggest we go to Next Home shop in Southampton. Very tempting but I think it is foolish till we sell this place and, more importantly, find somewhere else to live. I would hate them get ruined if they had to go into store. So have got to remain patient - difficult!!

Well at least it is not raining, which is more than can be said last night! When are these mornings going to get lighter earlier?

Need to clean the house and tidy round today. There is also something I need from town but can I for the life of me remember what???

Other than that, nothing to report.

Oh I don't like these dark and gloomy mornings!

Hope this morning finds you well. Off to the pub later this morning. Not as bad as it sounds. The residents association for our road has a coffee morning/get together. It has only been going 3 months and we missed the other 2 cos we were away.

Then quick whip round the house and waiting for our friends to arrive this afternoon. Dinner and theatre tonight. Sadly they have to head off after breakfast tomorrow.

Tommy has had a bath for the occasion! He liked that - NOT!! But he does look all white and clean now.
