Both bays so more scenery, but before we trot round the coast, lets have a visit to Les Landes, the local racecourse. it only has 8 meeting a year and I don't think it's ever going to morph into one of the top meetings. But having been it's a good day out.

And not bad scenery - that's Guernsey in the distance.
Looks a bit overcast, but sure it will brighten up when we roll in

Now past Devils Hole- somewhere I've never actually got round to going to despite many visits

The Devils Hole is a natural crater in the solid cliff measuring about 100ft across and plunging 200ft down. It has been caused by the sea gradually eroding the roof of what was once a cave, until it collapsed and formed a crater.
The name Devils Hole is a dramatic one but only invented in the 19th century. Formerly it was called Le Creux de Vis or Spiral Cave. One possible derivation for its modern name is connected with the shipwreck of a French boat in 1851. Its figurehead was thrust by the tide straight into the hole and a local sculptor transformed the torso into a wooden devil, complete with horns. Today this devils metal replica stands in a pool on the way down to the crater, lending a peculiarly supernatural atmosphere to the winding path down to the Devils Hole itself.
Whilst looking into the sculpture, i came across this, which besides our friend above also refers to some statuary at Mont Orgeuil castle on the other side of the island. But I've included the link as there is an amazing sculpture on top of a grave - really unusual and very sad.

Bonne Nuit Bay

Very quiet little bay, but somewhere to do a bit of sun bathing
Sunday 12060
Saturday 12352
And so much gardening. I finally moved my spirea - crikey it was hard work from my tiny front garden to the side and have made a sort of alpines in containers type garden. Everything planted, just need to put some gravel down on the soil and re-arrange the containers a bit to make it look a little more erm, artistic - not a word normally associated with me!
