Easter Buns.

Pagans worshipped the goddess Eostra, after whom Easter was named.
Some of the earliest of these buns go back to ancient Greece.
In England ,Hot cross buns.
In Italy, coloba a sort of panettone shaped like a dove.
In Russia the kulish, a long tall narrow cake.
The eating of buns in England was institutionalised in Tudor times, a London By Law was introduced forbidding the sale of these sweet buns except on G.Friday, Christmas and for burials.
The word bun is believed to have come from the Greek word boun, which is a circular or crescent shaped cake made from flour and honey.
These sweet buns are traditionally eaten at Easter as many of the ingredients. we're forbidden by the catholic church. As a child l can remember that lent was treated much more ridgedly.
The cross has ancient origins, connected with offerings of bread to gods which replaced the less civilised offerings of blood.

Like fixer l will be making my own if for no other reason because it will be the only way l could get them.
