I was made to wonder as my mum stopped aged 90 & we thought it was definitely the right time which has been proved by her not understanding different traffic lights when I was driving & telling me to go.
Very near our house we have a roundabout called Teletubby roundabouts whereby you drive through it & round it but all the markings are the road. Two weeks ago my D was hit in her car by an elderly couple who were in the wrong lane & turned left into her. Unfortunately accidents happen but the old man got out of his car in the middle of these dual carriageways, nearly getting wiped out by a lorry driver who turned a right angled corner. D told the old man to get in his car & follow her to a nearby church car park & this time he pulled in and stopped in the entrance. The couple told her it was her fault because she shouldn't have been in their lane going to Chester. The were in the lane to Chester but didn't go that way. The said they were on holiday here & would be away until next week. They must have returned home pretty smart ish & have been phoning her saying she shouldn't have told her insurance company!
She is upset because he didn't appear to be aware of danger, drove in dark glasses & cap on a February lunch time & had no awareness of what had happened & she wonders if he'll drive again. Would I stop driving if this was me? I don't know but I think I will stop when driving worries me.
What will make you stop?
Will you know when you or OH should stop driving?
