Some of you may remember l posted just after Christmas about my D and a few of you know a bit more. 10yrs ago my D was diagnosed with an autoimmune pulmonary disease at the time she was told by one consultant she may only have 4 yrs to live. She was on steroids and had chemo within the first yr but later she took the decision not to continue with steroids because of the side effects She tried some very bizarre alternatives over the following yrs and concentrated on eating healthy food. She was doing very well up until last winter when she had what l call a flare up and was in quite a lot of pain and not at all well, .One of the side effects is similar to rheumatoid arthritis.
After Christmas she was taken to hospital with pneumonia she stayed in hospital about 10days and within a week discovered she had picked up one of these bad bugs. The combination of this made her breathing much worse ( it had been around 20%) and they discovered that it had also damaged her heart. Her consultant for the lung problem sent her to Sheffield to see a heart specialist, she lives near Bangor. She went 3times over the past few weeks and last week ,quite unexpectedly they kept her in. Her son starts '0'levels this week in fact he had one last week, he desperately wants to stay at home so I'm going to go and stay with him ,leaving in the morning. My D thinks she may be there for at least two weeks. All rather a shock the trouble being so far away you feel a bit on the outside but worry like hell all the same. My GD who's just come back from a yr working in the Falklands is staying with him at the moment. So I'll see you in a few weeks though l may pop in from time to time.!!??
They have inserted a tube from her neck to her heart so that they can administrator the drug directly what they are doing is evaluating the dose she needs. The cafiter in her neck will stay so that the drug can easily be admissed when she needs it.
