Latest Australian travelogue!

I thought I'd get on here and entertain you all as t's so quiet!

Well, after the Quokkas and the glorious Rottnest Island, there was a bit of fading into insignificance ... But not for long! On our last day there I clocked up 18,000+ steps - phew! We also saw Pelicans, white-necked herons, pied cormorant (I think it was called that) and other things we identified but I cant remember!

Friday saw us visiting Fremantle again - because the famous FREO MARKETS are only open Friday and the weekend. Originally started up at the end of the 1890s to provide an outlet for local artisans, designers and farmers, it has to be the most awesome market I've ever been to. It's got a huge central food market and a massive arts/crafts/cheap tat area. It was like stepping back into a 1970s hippy time warp. Oh the joy!

Yesterday, we had a day of rest, just going for a night walk and getting mozzied to death!

Today, a long walk (in 30*) round the Baigup wetlands conservation area and saw more water birds. This afternoon, a Pork & Cider festival in the Swan Valley (some wonderful Brazilian and Mexican pork dishes!) with D and partner, followed by a stop off at The Rose and Crown pub, famous for being old - 1840 - and for being one of the places where Moondyne Joe robbed. He was one of Australia's most notorious escapees.

The next 3 days we're off to a place called (apologies for the rude name!) Woollybush, on the edge of the bush. The place we're staying has semi-tame kangaroos in the garden. I went there a couple of yearS ago and it was brilliant having brekkie with the kangaroos! We'll be making a detour and stopping off for brunch at Mindarie Marina on the way - one of my favourite places and where I saw dolphins a couple of years ago.

we get back on Wednesday evening and then have to prepare to go to Adelaide and the Great Ocean Road. But more of that later!

suffice it to say that it may be the trip of a lifetime, but I am starting to get bl@*dy cream crackered!!!! But onward and upward - tomorrow's a new pedometer day - today only clocked up7300 stops, and lots of pork!

talk again soon, and take care of yourselves!
