Air strikes over Syria

Went to bed having just watched the news and heard that British MPs have overwhelmingly voted to join the French (and obviously USA and Russia) in Syria and heard just now that the UK bombings have already taken place.

I never thought that WW3 would happen in our lifetime but how is this any different?

It's a vexed question but when bombs are being dropped from above, how are civilians not going to be killed or injured at some point?

Of course, like everybody else I feel sick at the name of Isis, Daesh or anything else that these terrorists are being called by but the more countries join in, the scarier the whole thing becomes. I have no wise words, simply none and it's far too difficult to know how I would feel if I was a resident of Syria as an ordinary citizen as it's way too far removed from our lives here to walk in those shoes. Would I feel that aid was coming or would I wonder if between the terrorists and the Allies my chances of survival to a normal life expectancy was slim?

Also wondering what will happen to the Labour party which has been cleft down the middle by this decision.
