I was feeling really grumpy today as I've had a rotten, chesty cold and everything was getting on my nerves, including Mr Vee. After lunch he suggested some fresh air might help me feel better so we took a walk to the Christmas Tree Festival at the local church. On the way we were suddenly overtaken by a lady who said "I have to go past you because I can't watch you walking hand in hand. I've no one to hold hands with anymore."
She hurried on so quickly that I didn't have a chance to speak to her, but it felt so poignant, and I felt really guilty for grumbling about my beloved even if it was inside my head. We do take these little things for granted 'til they're gone.
My best friend died earlier this year, and her husband has told me that the thing he misses most is having someone to do nothing with.
Little things mean a lot
