Watching the birds on my bird table this morning, I suddenly realised that there was a small flock of something different on the pyracantha at the end of the garden. They looked like thrushes, but weren't, because they had a sort of reddish hue to their chests. I had to resort to binoculars to see them properly, and I managed to identify them as Fieldfares (thank you, Google).
We get all sorts of birds here, even though we're on a housing estate, as we're quite close to open country, but I've never Fieldfares here before. It just shows how cold it was here last night; they're obviously looking for food.
Are you feeding the birds in your garden, and have you seen anything unusual?
