Someone brought up the subject about feeding your baby in public, l don't have any strong views on this. When l had my first 4 children l rarely went anywhere not easy with 4children under 4 ..Shopping was the high light of the day or picking up or collecting from school ,which was shared with a friend.So it was easy to go out in between feeding though l fed on demand it very quickly sorts out to be convenient.
It was also not the norm to feed your baby out, often one didn't go out you had friends at home or their home, coffee shops didn't really exsist, plus there wasn't the money around to do it. Later in the 70's it was beginning to become more popular to have coffee out but except for the hippies one rarely found it necessary to feed a baby whilst out,one didn't go out to lunch. As my fifth child was unexpected l did far more (towing him with me) where as with the others they came first. But still never found l needed to feed when out. I fed them on average for 9 months.
But when l fed them l wanted comfort a good chair plenty of cushions and peace!!!
Not chatting and noise all around me l loved sitting there and just watch him/her feeding it was magical,.
In this day and age things are different and I've been with my family when the need arises to feed ones offspring but all of them whilst not having a problem doing it in public have been discrete normally wearing a large shawl giving their babies a bit of peace from strangers prying eyes, ( they consider it's between them and their baby) and at the same time not preventing them from carrying on a normal life.
