I have a friend (A) with an elderly mum in her nineties. My friend lives five hours drive away but visits as often as she can. Over the last few years A. has taken her mum on holiday: cruises, cottage holidays ... but her mum is now far less mobile. Mum has now asked her to take her on a trip to the Channel Isles (plane, hotel, borrowed wheelchair etc) but A. isn't keen.
She feels guilty saying it doesn't suit her and has suggested she visits her mum for a few days instead, in the summer and takes her out every day( weather permitting). Needless to say mum is putting pressure on her to do the Channel Islands trip.
She's upset (both of them are) but A. wonders whether she OUGHT to go along with what mum wants as 'it might be the last hol together' etc etc. Guilt trip ....
Ideas/thoughts please?
