Reading a comment venetian lady said on another post made me think to start this post. Do you mind being called 'sweetheart' darlin', love, etc:? by strangers.
It doesn't bother me in the local shops etc: by older women, they call everybody something like that. But at work on the ward yesterday, I took exception. A new under 20 year old receptionist, who I had never met, called me, a 59 year old senior nurse, darlin' and then sweetie!! I couldn't believe it. I tried to think back to me at that age as a student nurse - I was in complete awe of the staff nurses and sisters, and even 3rd years, and wouldn't have dreamed or dared to call any of them other than their designated role names. But even now in this era, I still think it is disrespectful. She will be spoken to on the next occasion!! LOL.
How about you? What do you think to that?
