As it is D's birthday today I have been brooding about a nice custom OH invented after her birth.
Year by year, on D's birthday he bought a beautiful rose or some other nice flower and tought D to give me and thank me for bringing her into the world.
Later D bought the flower from her pocket money and for many years, even when she was already a married woman she kept this nice custom.
For some years now the custom became forgotten. I thought, it is a pity, even if I don't really expect anything. It was just nice to be remembered.
They are on a short holiday now, which is o.k. they work much to hard, they deserve to have a nice break.
I sent her her birthday present and we called her in the morning to tell her our best wishes, she did not even thought about thanking for her present. It didn't hurt me, nevertheless it'd have been nice she did.
