During my recent visit to Scotland I was delighted to see the glorious displays of daffodils and other spring flowers everywhere. We don't have anything like that here. However, yesterday when I was walking the dogs, I really looked and found a whole load of plants and flowers that I had never noticed. There are poppies, margaritas and forget-me-nots everywhere along with other wild flowers that I don't know the names of. On the agricultural side, there are miles of cantaloupe melons planted, the fig trees have fruit starting on them (surely this is early?) and the pomegranate trees are beginning to show their beautiful orange flowers. I also found a huge field of what I thought was simply weeds. However on closer inspection, I was gobsmacked to find it was coriander - one of my favourite herbs which I have great difficulty in finding in the supermarkets here. I cannot believe it is on my doorstep!!!
In my garden, the honeysuckle is looking incredible (I have both yellow and red), the yellow black-eyed Susan is in full bloom, the purple passiflora is looking great and I have loads of coloured daisy-like flowers that I don't know the name of!! :o
What about you?
