As far as I know this is a new scam. An elderly neighbour had a call yesterday from a man saying he was from the NHS. He knew all her personal details and her medication and knew that she also took Nurofen and then offered her a marvellous pill she could take which would give her a good night's sleep - but she would have to pay £5. I don't know whether he actually knew her debit card number but he asked for the expiry date, at which point she put the phone down. When she told me this morning I advised her to ring the surgery to confirm it was nothing to do with them, which of course it wasn't, and she is also informing the police. Very worrying that they have all her details!
