Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring this morning in Pennsylvania USA. His accuracy record is pretty dismal, so I don't think folks should count on it.
Another groundhog town in Wisconsin had to rent a groundhog as the one they used bit the mayor last year escaped. They can't get the licensing for a new one as it involves Federal/State/Local licensing and authorization to hunt one and keep it in captivity. The new mayor thinks they should abandon the live animal and use a costumed human or puppet or something else which has much of the town in an uproar, especially as a costumed human mascot was at events this morning.

There are a lot of jokes about how the mayor is protecting his own ears and it's a long-standing tradition that brings in the tourists and tourist money, but I'm thinking he may have a point. Anyone else?
