Well, am sitting in a lounge which no-one would want to lounge in! Removers/packers have left us chairs to sit in and a telly to watch - oh and our bed, too!
Everything else has been packed up and is waiting to go to the big storage cloud in the sky tomorrow ... and we're off to a hotel for 3 days, then Australia on Monday.
We'd hoped to be moving into our new house tomorrow but the people buying this house have an incredibly nit-picky solicitor who wants to dot all the i's and cross the t's - not easy to do with an almost 400 year old house! Anyway, we'll get there. Everything's signed and stashed with our solicitor, purchasers have handed the money over and it's held in their solicitor's account, one of the step-Ds has temporary Power of Attorney 'just in case', and we've notified all the services of Step-D's power to act while we're away.
Clothes & necessities packed in one case for our hotel stay in Lichfield (and possible snow?), ditto for Australia (42* forecast!), have arranged to drive cars to Nottingham and leave one with each step-D so cane be driven a bit.
And what's the worst thing? Having to have a microwave meal (no cooker) accompanied by a CUP of wine! Classy, eh? Reminds me of having wine in the room at one of the Forum Fests!!!!!
Well, off to the pub now to have a farewell pint - yes, I mix it!
I don't feel emotional about leaving although this house even though we've been here for 23 years. I guess it's because it's always been our 'grown-up house' and not where we brought the children up.
So girls, the next chapter is about to begin. If any of you are ever canal-boating in Staffordshire, PM me and you can call in for a canal-side cream tea!
On the move ...
