Well this is odd. I am sat here on my own after my meal for one while Mr K is out for the evening at a retirement dinner for one of his former colleagues.
I used to be on my own a lot when he was travelling with work and kind of got used to it but now it just seems odd.
It's been a funny day really. I tried to ring my friend a couple of days ago to see how her husband is getting on as we hadn't heard for a while and he is having chemo for leukaemia. He also has a chronic lung condition. I left a message on their answerphone and we were startng to worry. They live up in York so I can't just pop round. Anyway this morning I had just soaked my hair ready to shampoo it when the phone rang. Mr K was pottering outside in the garden - typical! I dripped my way to the phone and it was my friend so I had to say I would call her back.
When I did it was to find that her OH is in hospital as he has a thrombosis caused by the chemo. That poor man is having such a rough time and so is she. We had a good long chat (the rest of the morning actually) and I hope that I helped her in some small way as she told me all that was happening and then we shared a giggle or two. Bless her with all that she has on her plate she was concerned about Mr K.
I hate that we aren't nearer so that we could be there for her but that is just the way it is. We three have been friends since I was sixteen and Mr K has known them for over 40 years as a consequence. Gosh aren't we old?!!
It's at times like these that I realize that no matter what problems we may have you can always find that someone is worse off and we should count our blessings.
Meanwhile GD stared Pre-school today- ankther milestone! Her mother posted a photo of her and her big brother ready to go this morning. They looked so cute.
Well I will go and find something to watch on catch-up. Have a good evening xx
