....than you, my Forum friends.
I am sitting beside Clutterbug's bed, in a side ward, in the Margate hospital, and Mr R is driving back to Reading. I shall stay until the inevitable happens, which is getting close now.
The Nursing Staff are lovely, and they take end-of-life care very seriously. It's very busy, so I'm left on my own with him a lot, but I really don't mind. He's always been my little brother, even though he's older than me, and I've always felt responsible for him, and protective of him. I'm just pleased I'm here to talk to him, and to hold his hand
His breathing is changing, and he's going through something called Cheyne-Stokes respiration now, so the end is nigh. The nurses keep popping in to make sure we're alright, but I think they realise that I'm able to cope.
Please don't feel saddened by this post. Clutterbug's had a wretched few years but, at the minute, he's peaceful, calm, and comfortable and, strangely enough, so am I. I shall probably fall apart afterwards, but at the minute I'm OK.
Would you wish him well, and send him your farewells, my friends? We'd both appreciate it so much.
Who better to share this precious time with...
