An early afternoon or a late good morning - you choose!!

Off out early this morning, so no time to do the morning post, and it seems a Little too late to add to it now!!

We went to see the Gestor in CalaD'or about starting the legalising process for some building work we have done without getting planning permission first. Interestingly he told us this morning that only 1% of people who do this ever bother to get it legalised at all! I am anxious to know that we have a completely "clean" Escritura (set of Deeds) so that if at any point in the future we should decide to sell, everything will be completely in order, and we won't have to set about making the arrangements then, which will probably cost considerably more and take longer than doing it now. He thinks it should take about four months, and we are now waiting for him to come back with a date and time that he and the Architect will come out to look at the original plans, and what we have changed/added. The Architect will then have to draw up official plans for it for submission to the local Ayuntamiento for approval. It's definitely going to cost in the thousands rather than hundreds. The problem here is that once you pursue one set of papers, a whole raft of other totally obscure things are miraculously activated, so you always wonder if its in your better interests to just let sleeping dogs lie!! Even the Gestor said that unless you were considering selling at some point, not to bother!! However, all the Estate Agents are saying that buyers now are not prepared to risk buying any property that is not 100% legal in every aspect, and though it is our plan to stay here for as long as we possibly can, we thought it would make sense to have everything in place for when the time comes - hopefully many years off yet!! It would give us an advantage in that apparently 85% of properties here have some ilegal aspect about them!!

It was a gorgeous morning, and very warm, but a Little breeze has blown up and there are a few White fluffy clouds whisking across the sky now. We stopped for a coffee overlooking the harbour, and enjoyed the solitude and peace and quiet - couldn't be more opposite to summertime!! The Winter months are the real advantage and privelidge of living here, and I simply love the period from October to the end of March. Can't believe where this non Winter has gone - it seems to have flashed past. Speaking of which - can anyone tell me the date of Mothers' Day in the UK? Have seen various ads appearing for flowers etc, but none have actually specified the date. It falls in May here, but as MIL is in the UK, we always observe the date there.

Stir fry for lunch next, (it's one of my" light days" )then my walk, Have prepped a butty for OH, who is cleaning the pool at the moment, and we shall no doubt settle down with our books late afternoon. He's having a gammon steak with veggies for dinner, and I am on baked sweet potato with tuna fish, which I love!!
