Just dropping by to say we are back from our Lake District adventures.
Well we got back late on Saturday but have been frantically catching up on laundry, mail, accounts etc and have just had my hair done.
The weather was wet, wet and more wet with howling gales, snow on the hills, hailstones and occasional sunshine but we had a good time anyway:p.
The rented house was good although the heating and plumbing was rather quirky. We were out and about sometimes with S, DIL and GC and sometimes on our own. We paid a return visit to Blackwell House which is one of my favourite places with it's "Arts and Crafts" period designs. We went on a very chilly boat trip from Bowness to Ambleside and then back, playing crazy golf while we were there.
On the Wednesday BIL, SIL and FIL came and joined us for the day (his belated 90th birthday treat) and we all had a lovely lunch out with a view of Windermere and the snow settling on the mountain tops. In the afternoon we all got to talk to ES and family in the USA on FaceTime which astonished FIL.
On the Thursday we had a scary thrill of a ride over Hardknott Pass - beautiful scenery but the scariest narrow twisting, climbing road we've ever done. Needless to say this wuss wasn't driving! Even Mr K found it daunting in places and said he was glad we were in the Honda CRV and not something daintier. When we paused to get out to look back at the view we nearly got blown off our feet.
We travelled back on Saturday and called in for lunch at my B and SIL's on the way. It was lovely to see them and be relaxed and happy with them after almost five years of all our meetings being about dealing with the problems and sadness of our late parents.
So here I am trying to catch up with you all. Have a good rest of the day everyone xx
